ProsperUS to Sen. Manchin: There Is No Pause Button for Millions Engulfed by Flames and Floods
WASHINGTON DC — Today, ProsperUS coalition spokesperson Claire Guzdar released the following statement in response to Sen. Manchin’s op-ed calling for a “strategic pause” and a watering down of the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package.
“There is no pause button for the millions engulfed by flames and floods or for the countless families who can’t afford child care or next month’s rent. People across the country are looking to Congress to quickly deliver results to improve their lives and communities — not play the same old political games that have led to years of gridlock, dysfunction, and an economy that only works for the wealthy and well-connected.
“There is nothing smart nor strategic about delaying or watering down desperately-needed investments. Every penny of this legislation is critical to helping workers and families still reeling from the effects of the pandemic, preventing this fragile economic recovery from stalling out, and responding aggressively with the investments this moment calls for.”
