ProsperUS Coalition Urges Fast Action on Both Infrastructure Bills
Washington, D.C. — Today, the Senate passed the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The legislation includes funding for traditional infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and broadband access.
ProsperUS spokesperson Claire Guzdar shared the following statement in response:
“The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is a historic investment in our country’s infrastructure, but the July jobs numbers, while far stronger than they would have been without the investments included in the American Rescue Plan, also made clear that we have a long way to go to make sure our economy is working for everyone. Without continued investment and urgent action to help people find a good paying job, take care of loved ones, and stay safe and healthy as the pandemic continues to tear through communities — our chances of an equitable recovery could slip away.
“In this pivotal moment in Washington, we have a once-in-a-generation chance to build an economy that works for all of us. It’s time for Congress to build on the bipartisan infrastructure bill by advancing the $3.5 trillion broader infrastructure package without delay.”
